OWL Planner is a product of Optimal Wealth Lab. Last updated August 30, 2026. Using the site or paying for a plan means you accept this page.
These terms limit our liability as far as the law allows. They are not a promise that nobody can ever sue, and they are not a substitute for professional insurance if you give advice under a separate license.
Educational software — not advice
OWL Planner (legal name: Optimal Wealth Lab) is an educational web application. It is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, bank, insurance company, CPA firm, or law firm. It is not registered with the SEC, FINRA, or any state securities regulator. Using the site does not create a client, advisory, fiduciary, broker, attorney-client, or accountant-client relationship.
Nothing on this site is financial, investment, tax, legal, insurance, accounting, or retirement advice. Projections, scores, Monte Carlo results, “Ask Anything” answers, Markets quotes, and any suggested action are hypothetical illustrations based on numbers you type in. They are not recommendations to buy, sell, hold, convert, claim, or spend anything.
You are solely responsible for decisions you make. Before acting on anything material, talk with a qualified professional who is licensed for your situation and who has reviewed your complete facts.
No guarantee of results or accuracy
Markets, tax law, Social Security, Medicare IRMAA, RMDs, inflation, longevity, and your own spending can all change. The engine uses simplifying assumptions (for example, a two-year IRMAA MAGI lag, Uniform Lifetime RMD divisors, published federal brackets, and the returns and inflation rates you enter). Tables can lag statute. State tax treatment is a model, not a return.
Past market paths used in crash and Monte Carlo views are not a forecast. Simulated success rates are not probabilities of your life. Output may contain errors, bugs, rounding differences, or omissions. We do not warrant that the software is complete, current, uninterrupted, or free of defects.
Hypothetical performance illustrations are not actual results. They do not reflect fees charged by your custodian, advisor, or funds unless you entered those fees yourself.
Ask Anything and Markets
Ask Anything is an automated language model. It can be wrong, incomplete, or stale. It is not a certified financial planner, tax preparer, or lawyer. Do not rely on it for filing, trading, or legal conclusions.
The Markets tape is delayed educational market data. It is not a live quote, not an offer, and not a recommendation. Filings shown are public documents, not our research.
Your numbers, your risk
You enter household, account, income, and goal information. Garbage in, garbage out. You represent that you have the right to enter the data you enter and that it is not used to harm others.
Cloud save stores plan JSON associated with your login so you can pick up on another device. We are not a custodian. We do not hold your investments. Export or delete your account from the Account page. Guests who never sign in keep data in the browser session only.
Payments, subscriptions, and refunds
Paid plans (Pro, Family, Advisor) are optional software subscriptions billed in US dollars through Stripe, Inc., a third-party payment processor. We do not see or store full card numbers. Stripe’s terms also apply. Taking payment for software does not make us your adviser and does not mean we reviewed your plan.
Subscriptions renew monthly until you cancel. Price is shown at checkout. Cancel from Account → Manage billing (Stripe customer portal) or email support@fin-plan.us. Access continues through the paid period already billed. Except where a law requires otherwise, fees are non-refundable once a billing period starts, including unused time and unused features. Chargebacks filed in bad faith may result in account suspension.
Free users may see limits (accounts, goals, scenarios, Monte Carlo, PDF). Hitting a limit is not a defect. Sales tax may be collected if required. Prices may change; the price at checkout is the price that applies to that billing period.
AS IS — limitation of liability
THE SITE AND ALL OUTPUT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITH NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT USE WILL MEET YOUR NEEDS OR THAT LOSSES WILL NOT OCCUR.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, OPTIMAL WEALTH LAB, OWL PLANNER, AND THEIR OWNERS, OFFICERS, CONTRACTORS, AND SUPPLIERS ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES; LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, LOST OPPORTUNITY, TAX PENALTIES, MARKET LOSSES, OR COST OF SUBSTITUTE SOFTWARE, EVEN IF TOLD SUCH DAMAGES WERE POSSIBLE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THE SITE OR A PAYMENT WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SOFTWARE IN THE THREE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITS; IN THOSE STATES OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED.
You agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims that arise from your use of the site, your data, your failure to get professional advice, or your violation of these terms, except to the extent a court finds we caused the harm by our own willful misconduct.
No disclaimer can make anyone immune to every lawsuit. These terms limit liability as far as Michigan and U.S. law allow. They are not a substitute for professional liability insurance if you give advice under a separate license.
Privacy
We collect account email, authentication tokens, the plan JSON you save, subscription status from Stripe, and ordinary web logs (IP, browser, pages). We use this to run the product, bill, prevent abuse, and fix bugs. We do not sell your personal information.
Processors that may see data as needed to run the service include Supabase (auth and database), Stripe (payments), Vercel (hosting), and the model provider used for Ask Anything. Do not enter Social Security numbers, full account numbers, passwords to other sites, or medical details.
California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as those words are used in the CCPA/CPRA. To export or delete data, use Account or email support@fin-plan.us. Deletion removes the saved plan we control; backups and processor logs may persist for a limited time.
Cookies and local storage keep you signed in and remember display preferences. Analytics, if any, are used to keep the product working — not to build advertising profiles.
Acceptable use
You must be 18 or older. Do not scrape, overload, reverse engineer, resell, or use the site to give advice to the public as if it were certified output from us. Do not upload unlawful content. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service or skip payment.
Advisor-tier tools are still educational software. They are not a compliance system, not a substitute for your Form ADV, and not supervision of your practice.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Exclusive venue is the state or federal courts located in Michigan, except that we may seek injunctive relief anywhere. You bring claims only in your individual capacity, not as part of a class or representative action, to the extent the law allows. If a piece of this page is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
We may update this page. The version at fin-plan.us/disclosures on the date you use the site is the version that applies. Continued use after a change is acceptance. If you do not agree, stop using the site and cancel any paid plan.
